The Stoddard name and presence have been a symbol of Western resilience well before John Stoddard Sr. set his sights on Klondyke, AZ, in 1969. Founded on the passion and hard work of John Stoddard Sr., a renowned mountain lion hunter, guide, and rancher, the Stoddard property has embodied the true spirit of the West for decades. John Sr. dedicated his life to the land, and his untimely passing in 2017 marked the end of an era but also the beginning of a new chapter.
In 2016, as John Sr.'s health declined, his son, John Stoddard Jr., made a life-changing decision. Resigning from a successful career as a construction project manager, John Jr. returned to his roots to care for his father. During this time, he discovered a new calling—crafting handmade spurs. His first set, made in the same year, was a tribute to the strength and spirit of his father.
After John Sr.'s passing, John Jr. embraced the family legacy with unwavering commitment. In 2017, he officially named the ranch "Stoddard Cattle Company," honoring the family name and heritage. Today, John Jr. continues to forge high-quality, handcrafted spurs, each piece a testament to the traditions and values his father instilled in him.
Stoddard Cattle Company stands as a beacon of the Western way of life, blending time-honored techniques with modern dedication. Each spur is not just a product; it's a piece of history, a symbol of perseverance, and a connection to the spirit of the West.
